Apple Maps Adds Formula 1 Tracks Guide

Apple has updated its Apple Maps application with a new feature called the "2026 Formula 1 Tracks Around the World" guide, in anticipation of the upcoming season which will be exclusively streamed on Apple TV in the United States.

Detailed Circuit Exploration

The guide offers an immersive way to explore circuits around the world. Starting with Albert Park in Australia, users can view a three-dimensional model of the F1 pit building and detailed turn numbers along with grandstands. This feature is not only informative but also serves as a navigation tool for those attending the Australian Grand Prix.

Enhanced User Experience

The Albert Park circuit map includes realistic kerbs, clearly labeled 3D grandstands and footbridges, and all 14 turns. Temporary pop-up locations provide essential information such as entrance gates, restrooms, water stations, first aid points, and merchandise stands, with step-by-step walking directions to individual grandstands.

Other Tracks Upgraded

Several other tracks have been upgraded with new 3D graphics, though not to the extent of Albert Park. Users can preview these changes at circuits like Circuit Gilles Villeneuve in Montreal, Miami International Autodrome in Florida, the Circuit de Monaco, the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya in Spain, Silverstone in the UK, and the Red Bull Ring in Austria.

Apple’s F1 Partnership

The 2026 F1 season is set to begin on March 8th. Last October, Apple announced a five-year partnership with Formula 1 that includes exclusive streaming rights in the U.S. This partnership allows Apple TV to provide comprehensive coverage of all practice sessions, qualifying rounds, Sprint events, and Grands Prix.

Integration Across Platforms

The partnership aims to amplify Formula 1 across Apple’s ecosystem, including Apple News, Apple Maps, Apple Music, and Apple Fitness+. The Apple Sports app, for instance, will feature live updates for every qualifying session, Sprint event, and race throughout the season. Users can also expect real-time leaderboards, season driver and constructor standings, Live Activities, and widgets.
