Apple Updates Vintage Product Page
Apple has updated its vintage and obsolete product page, adding the Wi-Fi version of the third-generation iPad Air to the list. This addition comes after a period where only the cellular versions were listed as vintage products.
About the Third-Generation iPad Air
The iPad Air 3 was released in March 2019, marking five years since its last sale. It featured a significant design update with an A12 Bionic chip and support for the first-generation Apple Pencil. This model also included a Lightning port and Home button before Apple transitioned to USB-C ports and all-display designs.
Timeline of iPad Air 3
- Release: March 2019
- Discontinued: September 2020 with the launch of the iPad Air 4
- Vintage List Addition: April 2026 (Wi-Fi models)
Impact on Repair Services
With this update, Apple retail locations and authorized service providers can still perform repairs for the iPad Air 3 if parts are available. However, devices become obsolete after seven years from their last sale date, at which point repair services are generally no longer provided.
